Caddy Pro can offer subscription upgrades directly in the side cart: a customer adds a product as a one-time purchase, and Caddy shows an Upgrade to a Subscription option with the available plans and savings. The customer can switch to a subscription (or back to one-time) without leaving the cart.
Requirements
- Caddy Pro active.
- WooCommerce Subscriptions (the official extension).
- All Products for Subscriptions (WCS-ATT) — the WooCommerce extension that lets regular products carry subscription plans.
Setting up a product
- Edit a product and open the All Products for Subscriptions options added by the extension.
- Add one or more subscription plans — e.g. monthly or every 3 months — each with its own price or a percentage discount off the one-time price.
- Save the product.
That’s the whole setup. There are no separate Caddy settings for this feature — as soon as a product in the cart has subscription plans, Caddy displays the upgrade option automatically.
What the customer sees
- With the product in the cart, an Upgrade to a Subscription button appears under the item. If the plans offer a discount, the button shows the saving — e.g. “Upgrade to a Subscription & Save 20%”.
- Clicking it reveals a dropdown of plans, e.g. “Every month for $18.99 (Save 20%)”, alongside a “One time only” option.
- Choosing a plan updates the item’s price and cart totals instantly, with a brief “Saved” confirmation. The customer can switch back to one-time purchase at any point before checkout.
At checkout, WooCommerce Subscriptions takes over as normal — recurring billing, customer subscription management, and renewals all work exactly as they would if the customer had subscribed from the product page.
