Caddy shows product recommendations right inside the side cart — the moment of highest purchase intent. Recommendations are included in the free version of Caddy, with extra controls in Caddy Pro.
Configure them at Caddy > Settings, in the Recommendations section.
Choosing a recommendation source
Switch on Enable recommendations, then pick a Recommendation Type:
- Caddy Recommendations — hand-picked suggestions you set per product, independent of WooCommerce’s linked products.
- Product Cross-sells — uses each product’s cross-sells from WooCommerce (Product > Linked Products).
- Product Upsells — uses each product’s upsells from the same place.
Recommendations are based on what’s in the cart. For variable products, Caddy looks up the parent product’s linked products. Items already in the cart, out-of-stock items, and hidden or unpublished products are never recommended.
If a cart’s products have no linked recommendations configured, Caddy falls back to your store’s best sellers so the slider never sits empty.
Pro controls
Caddy Pro adds finer control over what shows and how:
- Headline — replace the default “We think you might also like…” with your own text.
- Fallback — choose what happens when no recommendations are configured: best sellers, products from the same category, or do nothing (hide the section).
- Display type — show recommendations as a slider or stacked rows.
- Maximum recommendations — show 1–12 products (the free version shows up to 3).
- Excluded products and Excluded categories — items that should never be recommended.
- Hide out of stock products — toggle stock filtering.
Targeted recommendations with workflows
These settings define your store-wide defaults. With Caddy Pro you can override them conditionally — for example, show premium accessories only when a flagship product is in the cart, or attach a discount to recommended items — using the Display Product Recommendations action in a workflow. Recommendation purchases are tracked and reported as Caddy conversions.
