Installing Caddy

Before you start

Caddy 3.0 requires WordPress 6.5+, PHP 7.4+, and WooCommerce 7.0+. WooCommerce must be installed and active — Caddy won’t load without it.

Installing Caddy (free)

  1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New.
  2. Search for “Caddy”.
  3. Click Install Now, then Activate.
  4. Find the new Caddy menu in your dashboard sidebar and open Caddy > Settings to configure the cart.

That’s it — the side cart is live on your storefront immediately. You can also download the plugin from wordpress.org/plugins/caddy and upload it manually.

Installing Caddy Pro

  1. After purchasing, log into your account at usecaddy.com and download the Caddy Pro plugin zip from your downloads area.
  2. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
  3. Upload the zip and click Install Now, then Activate.
  4. Go to Caddy > Licenses and activate your license key to enable updates and unlock all Pro features.

Already running the free version? Just install and activate Caddy Pro — it includes everything in the free version, so the free plugin is deactivated automatically and all of your existing settings carry over. You don’t need to uninstall anything first.

If you later deactivate Caddy Pro, WordPress will show a notice with a one-click link to reactivate the free version.

Upgrading from Caddy 2.x

Caddy 3.0 is a major rebuild. If you’re updating an existing 2.x site, update the free plugin and Caddy Pro together — a 2.x Pro version is not compatible with the 3.0 free plugin (you’ll see an admin notice asking you to update). As with any major update, we recommend testing on a staging site first; staging sites don’t count against your license activations.
