Updating the free version
Caddy free updates through WordPress.org like any other plugin: go to Dashboard > Updates (or Plugins) and click Update Now when an update is available. You can also enable auto-updates from the Plugins screen.
Updating Caddy Pro
Caddy Pro updates are delivered directly from usecaddy.com and appear in the same Dashboard > Updates screen — as long as your license is active. If you don’t see Pro updates, check Caddy > Licenses: an expired or inactive license is almost always the reason. You can also download the latest zip from your usecaddy.com account and install it over the old version.
Upgrading from Caddy 2.x to 3.0
Caddy 3.0 is a complete rebuild on the WordPress Interactivity API and WooCommerce Store API. A few things to know before you update:
- Check requirements first — 3.0 needs WordPress 6.5+, PHP 7.4+, and WooCommerce 7.0+.
- Update both plugins together — a 2.x version of Caddy Pro is not compatible with the 3.0 free plugin. You’ll see an admin notice until both are on 3.0+.
- Test on staging if you can — it’s a major version. Staging sites don’t count against your license.
- Clear all caches after updating — page cache, CDN, and browser.
- Custom code? If you used the old jQuery API to open the cart, update it to the new JavaScript API. The PHP cart screen action hooks still work.
Your settings are preserved across the update, and the old free shipping meter configuration migrates into the new rewards meter automatically.
